The Beatles created some of the earliest forms of music video long before The Monkees or anyone else aped their efforts.

Now, a Beatles reissue is packaging music and video together, with many of the clips reaching the public for the very first time. The Nov. 6 update of “The Beatles 1” compilation features music videos and short films from the band’s celebrated career, on either DVD or Blu-ray formats.

Consumers can choose one of two options: “The Beatles 1″ with a single bonus video disc, or a second version with two video discs and a 124-page book.

Both are upgrades on the best-selling 2000 release “Beatles 1” that proved a new generation could succumb to Beatlemania just as their parents and grandparents before them. The 2000 “Beatles 1” sold 595,000 copies in its first week of release. It went on to become the best-selling group album of the decade.

The new album features 27 No. 1 songs along with an accompanying video for each. The deluxe edition offers 23 more videos, some of which feature alternate video takes. Surviving Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr provide commentaries for the release.

It’s hardly the only new Beatles product for fans’ consideration. Ringo’s Starr’s “Photograph,” a play on one of the drummer’s biggest hits, captures more than 250 Beatles images never seen before. The book is out Monday and may not be the last of its kind.

Starr is asking ex-band mate McCartney and the widows of late Beatles George Harrison and John Lennon to see if they’ll provide more images for a book sequel.
