Madonna Feels ‘Oppressed,’ Says Trump Made It Worse

It is really, really hard being Madonna, according to Madonna.

And — oh, look! — she is blaming others for her state of mind.

Most of all, she says her life is difficult because of President-Elect Donald Trump.

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the 58-year-old pop singer touched on everything from Trump to why she feels so “oppressed” as a successful, millionaire, A-list, known-all-over-the-world singer and performer.

Madonna said she has been just devastated since Trump won the presidential election. “It’s like when you break up with somebody who has really broken your heart. You wake up and for a second you’re just you, and then you go, ‘Oh, the person I love more than anything has just broken my heart, and I’m devastated and I’m broken and I have nothing. I’m lost,'” said Madonna.

She continued, “That’s how I feel every morning. I wake up and I go, ‘Wait a second. Donald Trump is the president. It’s not a bad dream. It really happened.’ It’s like being dumped by a lover and also being stuck in a nightmare,” she said, adding she even prayed the night of the election and offered her life to God forever if Trump did not win.

Selfishly comparing the election to a personal breakup was not the most out-of-touch thing the singer said in the interview, however. She claimed she was one of the few people in the music industry who has taken a political stance. She even shamed those who didn’t or don’t.

She may be the first celebrity in history to think a liberal political position would keep anyone from getting a job.

“What I find really astonishing is how quiet everybody is in my industry. I mean, nobody in the entertainment business except for maybe a handful of people ever speak out about what’s going on. Nobody takes a political stance or expresses an opinion,” Madonna said.

Looking back at Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the endless amount of stars the Democrat pulled out into the limelight for her own benefit, it’s more than an odd statement that few entertainers take political stances. It’s even odder to think those who don’t are somehow doing less. They are likely taking their audience more into consideration than others.

“They want to maintain a neutral position so they can maintain their popularity. I mean, if you have an opinion and people disagree with you, you might not get a job,” Madonna opined. “You might be blacklisted. You might have fewer followers on Instagram. There are any number of things that would be detrimental to your career. Everyone’s really afraid,” she continued.

If she were talking about right-leaning artists, she might be right. However, she may be the first celebrity in history to think a liberal political position would keep anyone from getting a job.

Beyond Madonna’s thoughts on Trump and the election, she touched on her own … well, oppression. “I’ve always felt oppressed. I know a lot of people would go, ‘Oh, that’s ridiculous for you to say that. You’re a successful white, wealthy pop star,’ but I’ve had the s*** kicked out of me for my entire career, and a large part of that is because I’m female and also because I refuse to live a conventional life,” she said. “I’ve created a very unconventional family. I have lovers who are three decades younger than me. This makes people very uncomfortable. I feel like everything I do makes people feel really uncomfortable.”

Madonna’s “unconventional” family may be in reference to her two adopted children. And, it’s true, she’s had young lovers. Ex-husband Guy Ritchie, director of “Sherlock Holmes,” is 10 years younger than her, for example — and she was said to have paid tens of millions in that divorce.

Yet let’s really look at this for what it is. This singer, who has charted her own course and been proud of it, now thinks people criticize her because she’s charted her own course.

The truth is that any criticism is likely due to her own words about how she’s a rich, successful entertainer who is “oppressed.” Or perhaps it’s that she’s so out of touch with reality that she sees herself as the frontline warrior for celebrity liberals, daring to take positions no one else could have the bravery to express … except, you know, countless other, out-of-touch Hollywood liberals.
