The bathroom selfie. It’s not something that would seem appealing, typically, for a person to do or for another person to look at — but when celebrities do it, well, The Daily Beast and other outlets go out of their way to call it “epic.”

Kylie Jenner, the 19-year-old sister of Kim Kardashian, rounded up a group of celebrities at the recent Met Gala to throw together one “epic” bathroom selfie. The pic included Kendall Jenner, Brie Larson, Paris Jackson, Puffy Daddy, and many others.

“Annual bathroom selfie,” read the caption for the Instagram photo, which has somehow gained almost three million likes.

A strict “no social” policy exists at the Met Gala. Vogue editor Anna Wintour has a distaste for the selfie, having previously stated in a Vogue video, “I’ve never taken a selfie and I don’t plan to start now.”

That inspired Kylie Jenner and others to run to the bathroom at the event for a massive selfie in the one place where it’s probably not very hygienic to be hanging out for too long.

“The spontaneity and authenticity of the picture contrasts with the usual, formal staged pictures taken inside the Met Ball and on its red-carpet runway,” gushed The Daily Beast of the picture.

Once upon a time, celebrities could only be seen at red-carpet affairs or hard at work on movie sets or at charity events. Now, they snap pictures of themselves while sneaking off to public bathrooms because they’ve been banned from taking selfies at fashion events. How low can they go?
