In a week full of tragic news, here’s a partly positive one for everybody: Tim Allen’s “Last Man Standing” may have found a new television home.

After being canceled for questionable reasons by ABC after six seasons, CMT is reportedly in early talks to revive the series. The station already airs reruns of the conservative-leaning sitcom.

According to insiders who have talked with The Hollywood Reporter, obstacles must still be overcome in order for “Standing” to officially land at CMT. The show has a higher price tag due to its long period of time on the air and its built-in audience.

A change.org petition created to bring the series back after its cancellation earned nearly 400,000 signatures. The last season of the show also averaged over eight million viewers, which made it the second highest-watched sitcom on ABC.

Many people felt politics were the reason behind the cancellation, as 64-year-old actor and producer Allen has been more outspoken in recent months about his conservative beliefs and the bias in Hollywood against him and others.

Allen told Jimmy Kimmel in March that conservatives had to be “careful” when talking politics or they could face professional backlash. It was after those comments and more that ABC canceled the sitcom — over which Allen expressed shock on Twitter.

“Stunned and blindsided by the network I called home for the last six years,” Allen tweeted at the time.

“Last Man Standing” follows Mike Baxter, an outdoor enthusiast. The character, played by Allen, decides to spend more time at home dealing with the new world of political correctness and soft teachings that his daughters are entering.
