If you thought that Hillary Clinton’s loss on Nov. 8 meant she would be out of the public eye for a good long while — you’d be wrong. Clinton showed up Tuesday night out of the blue to give her former donor and celebrity stumper, Katy Perry, a humanitarian award.

At the UNICEF Snowflake Ball in New York City, Clinton took to the stage to present the Audrey Hepburn Humanitarian Award to Perry. “I’ve gotten to spend time with her and I know how deeply she cares about making our world a better place,” Clinton said of the singer. “We need champions like Katy now more than ever — her passion, her energy, and, yes, her voice, louder than a lion.”

Perry has been an ambassador for UNICEF, which provides assistance to children and mothers in developing regions of the world, since 2013. She didn’t hold back in her praise for Clinton after taking the stage.

“Hillary has lit that voice inside of me, and that light will never go out. It will continue to get brighter and brighter and brighter. Thank you, Hillary. You motivate me and so many millions of people,” the teary-eyed singer said.

Perry took a potshot at President-Elect Donald Trump in her acceptance speech. “Even though I’ve only been on a few field visits, I’m happy I’ve helped highlight the effects of climate change — which is real.”

Perry previously performed at “Get Out the Vote” concerts for Clinton, sang at the Democratic National Convention, and did heavy stumping in the final weeks of the election — which had questionable effects on Clinton’s relatability to the average voter.

The former secretary of state had a much better reception at the gala than on Election Day. She even received a standing ovation for her surprise entrance.

What’s not good about the appearance is what it might mean for Clinton’s future. She has spent decades in the public eye accumulating scandals, getting caught in lies, and cozying up to Washington insiders and lobbyists. Many people voted against her in the election and sent the message, “Enough is enough.”

Her public appearance shows she’s not going anywhere anytime soon.

Worse still was Perry’s heaping praise on Clinton as if she were still running for president. The schmoozing relationship between Clinton and Hollywood seems to be far from over. Hillary, of course, received major donations and support from Hollywood during the campaign — but it did little to help her with working-class citizens.

Instead of moving on from Clinton, perhaps we will see Tinseltown latch on even harder to the former presidential nominee. Then we can watch as both somehow grow even more unrelatable to the common man and woman.
