Kathy Griffin will just not go away.

Some nine months after causing major controversy over a photo shoot in which she posed with the fake severed head of President Donald Trump, the comedian now says she is attempting a comeback tour within the United States.

On Friday night’s “Real Time with Bill Maher,” Griffin announced she had booked dates at New York City’s Carnegie Hall and Washington’s Kennedy Center. She called the two locations “Trump’s backyard.”

“I’m dipping my toes into touring again,” she told Maher, one of the few comedians who stood by Griffin after her infamous Trump photo was released.

“She is a good American who loves her country and should be able to work in it,” said Maher when introducing Griffin.

Griffin originally apologized for the photo, but later seemed to retract the apology. She told Maher it was because she thought the reaction went overboard.

The fallout from the picture included Griffin’s losing out on hosting duties at CNN, plus a spokesperson’s job — and she said she was also unable to book comedy gigs within the United States. She proceeded to tour overseas, where her so-called humor was all built around the president.

What’s most offensive here is how empty the statements are. And how obvious that emptiness is.

After the photo’s release, Griffin tearfully apologized in a press conference. She then moved back on that apology. And after that, she traveled overseas — and insulted the president and the country.

Now she is now trying to capitalize on that photo within the United States.

She is an opportunist, plain and simple — and it should surprise no one if she pulls another sad and horrible stunt in the future, along the lines of a photo with a mockup of the president’s severed head.
