Kathy Griffin Has Lost All Credibility: Look What She’s Saying Now

The comedian is insisting she was targeted because of sexism and ageism — and is going back on her tearful apology

Comedian Kathy Griffin has a credibility issue. After she was pictured in a photoshoot holding what was meant to be the bloody head of the president, she swiftly apologized and gave a teary-eyed press conference in June.

Though Griffin admitted she went “too far” at the time, she is now going back on her apology (for the second time) and trying desperately to stand up for what she did. The trouble is she already attempted to distance herself from the photo, so trying to save her career by standing behind it only makes her look more foolish.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, Griffin went so far as to suggest that “anyone” would have taken the photo she took, which is absurd considering the immediate reaction to her own photo from people on the Left and the Right. There wouldn’t have been as much shock as there was if it was the sort of thing "everybody" did.

“I took a picture that you or anyone of your friends could make,” said Griffin, who is 56. “I put it online and was under federal investigation for conspiracy to assassinate the president of the United States of America. I didn’t do anything wrong. It’s insane and I truly believe if it happened to me it could happen to you.”

"I took a picture that you or anyone of your friends could make."

The comedian continued by saying she was shocked, shocked to see fellow liberal thinkers turning against her in the aftermath of the photo controversy.

“I was vilified by everyone,” she said. “I was vilified by Chelsea f***ing Clinton. I was vilified by my friend Don Cheadle. I was vilified by people I’d had at my f***ing home. Nobody had my back. It happened so fast. I didn’t see it coming.”

She added that the only reason President Trump was personally offended by the photo was because he is a "sexist" and an "ageist."

“I will not be convinced this was not a straight-up case of sexism and ageism. I really think Trump went for me because I was an easy target,” she said.

The delusions that Griffin harbors are astonishing. She’s flip-flopped so many times about her own controversial photo that it’s tough to believe how she really feels about the whole thing.

In a behind-the-scenes video of the original photoshoot, she joked that she and the photographer would need to run away to Mexico due to the fallout from their actions. She then acted shocked when people were outraged. After apologizing, she went back on the apology — and now is suggesting she never went too far.

With her credibility gone, Griffin is simply trying to save what little is left of her career by trying to win over some extreme anti-Trumpers. It's unlikely her efforts will do much, since most people who have criticized the president think she went too far — and is now yesterday’s news.
