J.K. Rowling, author of the famous “Harry Potter” series, is seeking to revive the old magic that captured the hearts of millions.

Her last and supposed final book, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” was released nine years ago. The last “Harry Potter” movie came out in 2011. Everyone assumed that the series would be relegated to merchandise, fan debate, and occasional new information released on Rowling’s site, Pottermore.

How will fans receive the new book, arriving nine years after the last one?

But now fans are in luck. A new installment, entitled “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” is moments away from released.

The “book” is actually based off a manuscript, and the story is being staged as a play. The production officially opens at The Palace Theatre in London on Saturday. “Cursed Child,” the script book that already has more Amazon and Barnes & Noble pre-orders of any book since 2007’s “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” arrives at midnight on Saturday. Release parties are planned at stores in both the U.S. and the U.K.

The story picks up 19 years after Voldemort’s defeat. Harry is now a father to three children, overworked and unable to escape his past.

His son, Albus, struggles to deal with living up to the family legacy, being the child of the man who defeated the Dark Lord Voldemort. The play features actors Jamie Parker as Harry, Paul Thornley as Ron, and Noma Dumezweni as Hermione.

Furthermore, the universe of the Harry Potter world will now extend to the most powerful country in the world, the United States of America. The new spin-off movie, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” set to premiere on Nov. 18, takes place in the heart of New York City and features the magical community of the United States.

All of this new buzz begs the question: How will the fans receive it — especially those who grew up reading the books and watching the movies? Is it wise to continue a series that was considered finished — just to extract a little more glory?

The sentiment at the moment appears to be yes.

The Harry Potter universe is not one-dimensional, but rather consists of many different creatures, social/cultural issues, and many other countries, Bulgaria and France being two. It was only logical, given Britain’s close kinship with America, that Rowling had something in mind for us. The fact that we are receiving new information and adventures to see and talk about can only bode well for the franchise and its fans.

“I’m incredibly excited to have more of the wizarding world back in my life. As a Ravenclaw [one the four houses of the Hogwarts school in the U.K.], I could never get enough information about the magical world J.K. Rowling created,” says Rebecca Llanes, 20, of Massachusetts.

When asked about the upcoming movie she stated, “I can’t wait to see how America’s wizarding world contrasts to Harry’s.”

To a great deal of millennials (the generation that makes up the bulk of the fan base for Harry Potter) and fans of all ages, the new releases can only mean more opportunity to witness the incredible world envisioned by J.K. Rowling. One has to hope that the results will live up to the expectations.

It is official — the magic has returned!
