Kellie Pickler. The country singer and television personality got her start as a contestant on the fifth season of “American Idol.” Pickler, 31, has been an advocate for military and veteran groups such as Paralyzed Veterans of America and the Wounded Warrior Project, and has done several tours with the USO.

In 2015, Pickler, a native of North Carolina, was the first recipient of the Operation Troop Aid Chris Kyle Patriot Award, an award in honor of the late Navy SEAL Chris Kyle.

In 2016, she was also awarded the Bob Hope Spirit of Hope Award, given to those who have selflessly supported our troops around the world.

Speaking about her work with the USO, Pickler told Rolling Stone, “I didn’t get in line to work with the USO and the Wounded Warrior Foundation and all the other organizations to be patted on the back for it … It’s about all of our servicemen and women and their families and the sacrifices they’ve made.” (go to page 3 to continue reading)[lz_pagination]
