Still embroiled in controversy, Bill O’Reilly is out as television’s number-one news host and is reportedly looking at a payout of $25 million from Fox News.

However, if social media are any indicators, the television host still has plenty of rabid fans eager for further commentary from him, with many even calling for boycotts of Fox News. Quite a few people maintain he was ousted unfairly — guilty until proven innocent, in other words — and while he was on vacation in France, no less.

O’Reilly already announced over the weekend on his personal website that he has a new episode of his podcast, “No Spin News,” debuting on Monday.

Leaving the world of television certainly doesn’t mean his career is over, and O’Reilly, 67, has never seemed the type to embrace retirement. He still has plenty of options and other stars have made far bigger comebacks.

Here’s a look at what could be next for O’Reilly.

Radio. Plenty of conservative commentators do extremely well through radio, and O’Reilly has some friends that could help him out or even team up with him on a program. He also hosted a radio program that ran from 2002 to 2009.

Even though O’Reilly is unlikely to have another television outlet hire him for on-air entertainment and commentary, radio would be a fitting place for him; his audience would likely follow him there, as conservative audiences are already well established radio listeners. Popular pundits including LifeZette Editor-in-Chief Laura Ingraham host top programs.

Comedian Dennis Miller was a regular on O’Reilly’s show and has a history in radio. It’s easy to imagine the two teaming up for a show or a podcast with a comedy bent, as the two have gone on the road together many times.

Online. Everybody’s going online these days, with news outlets, podcasts, streaming shows, and more. O’Reilly could easily create an independent show online.

Popular shock jock Anthony Cumia, formerly of “Opie and Anthony,” took the independent channel route, and it’s been working for him. So it’s a very real option for O’Reilly, albeit one that requires a great deal of legwork from the commentator.

Lot of fans have mentioned through social media the possibility of O’Reilly going to work for Glenn Beck’s online outlet, TheBlaze, instead of taking a completely independent route.

A program from O’Reilly would be a fitting replacement for Tomi Lahren’s fiery show; Beck and O’Reilly have always been friendly. The possibility was even mentioned on Beck’s program recently, and Beck seemed to have no major objection, though it was humorously floated that O’Reilly would need to be open to a substantial pay cut.

Books. Who needs TV when you dominate bestseller lists? O’Reilly has been writing mainly historical books that have been major bestsellers.

The last was “Killing the Rising Sun,” which was the latest in a series that looks at political assassinations, assassination attempts, and political legacies. O’Reilly has also dabbled in memoirs and children’s books. With popular tours and his best-selling “Killing” franchise, O’Reilly could dedicate his time fully to writing in the future — and do just fine.

Movies. O’Reilly has quietly been moving into the world of film for years. His books have been produced by the likes of Tom Hanks and the late Tony Scott into popular TV movies such as “Killing Jesus” and “Killing Lincoln.” He even recently produced a miniseries.

O’Reilly could start working with the National Geographic channel (which has distributed some of his various films) on more of these adaptations and even original content; he has worked behind the scenes on these. He also has a novel, “Those Who Trespass,” that has been in and out of development for a long time. Mel Gibson was attached at one point and could be once more if he decided to help O’Reilly experience a comeback similar to his own.
