Joss Whedon, the director of “The Avengers” and the creator of such television shows as “Buffy, the Vampire Slayer,” has used Twitter to wish death upon politicians he doesn’t like, to sexualize teenage cancer patients, and to compare Ivanka Trump to a dog.

Now he has used it to say he’s “grateful” his mother is dead because Donald J. Trump is president of the United States.

“Today I gratefully give my mother the gift of having been dead for 25 years and not having to see what a tub of f***ery our country’s become,” Whedon tweeted on Mother’s Day.

Lovely.

Even other social media users who saw the tweet were a little shocked that someone like Whedon would use his mother’s death as a platform to take a cheap shot at a president with whom he disagrees.

Whedon has been protected by the mainstream media for a very long time. He’s seen as a shining voice for inclusion in film — yet he’s been one of the more vile trolls on Twitter.

He should finally be called out by the mainstream media.

Who do you think would win the Presidency?

This man is directing the new “Batgirl” movie for Warner Brothers, yet he disparages women openly on Twitter. This is a man who wants to be taken seriously, yet he says Rep. Paul Ryan’s death would be funny and that he’s “grateful” for the death of his own mother because, you know, Trump is ending the free world in front of our eyes. Please.

Whedon has proven under this president to be no better than the offensive trolls who look for any excuse to attack people they don’t like, by any means necessary. This 52-year old man has used his public platform to spread his hatred. He shouldn’t just lose his job directing “Batgirl” — he should finally be called out by the mainstream media that constantly ignore his vile comments and celebrate him as something he’s not.
