The first season of “American Crime Story” got audiences obsessed once more in the ’90s murder trial involving former football star O.J. Simpson.

With the show a ratings and cultural success — it nabbed two Golden Globes and nine Emmy Awards — it’s no surprise FX is quickly working on new seasons. What is surprising is the political nature that producer Ryan Murphy is suggesting future seasons have.

The next season will shelve the courtroom drama for political debates when it tackles events surrounding Hurricane Katrina. What’s far more concerning is Murphy’s suggestion that the show’s fourth season, which is in development, will focus on the Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky scandal.

Murphy told E! News the fourth season of the series will be based on the book “A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President” by CNN’s legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin.

“It’s a very interesting book,” said Murphy. “It’s not really about Hillary Clinton. That book is about the rise of a certain segment of a right-wing group of people who despised the Clintons and used three women — Paula Jones, Monica Lewinsky, and Linda Tripp — to try and tear him down. The Toobin book is amazing. And there are a lot of bizarre crimes within that book that you can highlight.”

Actress Sarah Paulson, who played Marcia Clark in the show’s first season, will play an unspecified role in the upcoming season — though she will reportedly not portray Hillary Clinton.

“The show isn’t really about Hillary Clinton. It really is about the other women. In fact, we might be doing the Clintons with hand puppets, I don’t know,” Murphy said. “We’re more focused on the mechanizations behind the scenes to try and get [Bill Clinton] impeached.”

When will Hollywood’s love affair with the Clintons end? Despite the fact that Americans have rejected their corruption, Hollywood still puts Hillary and Bill on pedestals that even Barack Obama would be jealous of today.

The first season of “American Crime Story” was riveting. It managed to be a culturally significant show about a man most people thought they didn’t want to hear another word about. It played with the ideas of right and wrong displayed during the infamous trial.

Now, Murphy seems to be more interested in using his FX series as a platform to make blatant political statements and to push agendas — which is always damaging to art and storytelling.

He makes clear in his comments that the real crime of the show is not a cheating husband who uses his influence as the most powerful man in the world to lie and manipulate — but “a segment of a right-wing group of people” who “used” three women to impeach a president.

Hollywood stumped for Hillary Clinton during the presidential race of 2016, and she lost. They dismissed email scandals, Benghazi, out-and-out lying, and past comments of concern made by the Clintons. Their rose-colored glasses are always firmly in place when it comes to Bill and Hillary.

It’s sad to see that political bias infect an otherwise good television show.
