Was that water in Ben Affleck’s glass?

Unlikely — as the actor made an historic appearance on “Any Given Wednesday,” the new HBO show with Bill Simmons.

Affleck took sips of some clear liquid as he chatted, but he clearly had already consumed whatever was making him slur, as the two talked about Tom Brady and his football woes.

“Epic” doesn’t really begin to describe it. This was a speech you’d find in a frat house or your local bar.

In the 4:57 video that’s going viral, Affleck dropped 17 F-bombs (and we might have missed one), along with several other choice four-letter words words. He seemed drunk — plain and simple.

“Deflategate is the ultimate bulls**t f***ing outrage, of sports ever,” he declared. “It’s so f***ing stupid.”

A loyal Boston boy, Affleck was passionate about the New England Patriots.

“It’s a f***ing ridiculous smear campaign,” he told Simmons. “We’re running our greatest player ever through a mill of humiliation and shame — which is totally unwarranted.”

Jokes about Batman having a bad day, sweating vodka, and being completely plastered immediately began popped up on Twitter.

Simmons, who has to be happy about all the attention his debut episode is getting, tweeted only that the show was taped in the late morning and that “Ben got fired up about DeflateGate during the convo, that’s it.”

Some on Twitter offered up excuses he might want to use:

But Affleck wasn’t making excuses. He tweeted out a comment correcting a number of F-bombs.

And he was far from apologetic about the whole thing.

It seems he even gained a lot of fans by owning up to the rant. Some people praised him for his candid comments, saying he was “on point” — and we all should be so passionate about our favorite teams.
