Because we live in the Netflix and Hulu era, it has become a common pastime to binge-watch popular television shows. This allows us to get very attached to some characters and really despise others — that’s show business! The TV industry is vastly growing, and think about it — TV casts are huge nowadays, so it’s pretty easy for a character to exist who is universally detested.

Here are some of our least favorite TV characters of all time!

Newman, “Seinfeld”
“Hello, Newman.” Wayne Knight played the character of Jerry Seinfeld’s loathsome neighbor — a man who tried to get Jerry evicted, tried to get him accused of mail fraud, and triumphantly infested his apartment with fleas (“yadda, yadda, yadda”). Obviously, all of those things would make anyone Jerry’s “sworn enemy.” TV Guide included Newman in its 2013 list of The 60 Nastiest Villains of All Time.

Marnie Michaels, “Girls”
From the very beginning of this series, Allison Williams’ character, Marnie, has been very ignorant. As the main character, Ray Ploshanksy, told her once, “You’re a huge fat f***ing phony.” She can’t resist being the center of attention. Whether it’s trying to launch her singing career or working on her next disastrous relationship, Marnie is unabashedly snobby and insincere. She’s always got to have the next best thing while seldom considering the collateral damage that piles up in the process.
