President Donald Trump sparked a nasty internet firestorm Thursday morning with a a series of tweets directed at MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” co-hosts, Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski.
Apparently angered by what he heard second-hand about “Morning Joe” criticisms — Trump noted he doesn’t watch the MSNBC show anymore — Trump went after the co-hosts, especially Brzezinski.

“I heard poorly rated @Morning_Joe speaks badly of me (don’t watch anymore). Then how come low I.Q. Crazy Mika, along with Psycho Joe, came … to Mar-a-Lago 3 nights in a row around New Year’s Eve, and insisted on joining me. She was bleeding badly from a face-lift. I said no!”

MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” used to be one of Trump’s go-to shows in his career as a businessman and a candidate. But over time the show’s hosts became more and more critical of Trump, engaging themselves in some unhinged attacks on him.
Brzezinski once called Trump an idiot. The show’s hosts have even suggested Trump has dementia.
On Thursday morning, Brzezinski retorted by tweeting a picture of a Cheerios box with a picture of “little hands,” an apparent reference to Trump’s hand size.
Some of Trump’s own allies said the president went too far in his attack on Brzezinski.
“Mr. President, your tweet was beneath the office and represents what is wrong with American politics, not the greatness of America,” tweeted Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-S.C.), a once frequent Trump critic who has pivoted to mostly praising the president in recent months.
“This is a president who fights fire with fire.”
Trump’s usual critics jumped, seizing on a new opportunity to cast Trump as a misogynist.
“I don’t think Trump likes women,” tweeted Justin Miller, the national editor of The Daily Beast.
The tweet recalled Trump’s criticisms of Megyn Kelly, then of Fox News, who suggested Kelly was bleeding from her “wherever” when she asked the first question of the first Republican primary debate in August 2015.
Several commentators noted that Trump’s wife, Melania, was supposed to head an anti-cyberbullying campaign.
On Thursday morning, Melania Trump’s spokesman said she is aware of the fact that the president will punch back “10 times harder” when he is attacked.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Trump’s deputy press secretary, told Fox News the personal attacks made by the “Morning Joe” co-hosts have gone over the top, and have been made against her, too.
“This is a president who fights fire with fire,” said Sanders.
