Republican Donald Trump blasted his Democratic rival Thursday, ridiculing her as an idea-free candidate with no recourse but to attack him.

Appearing on “The Laura Ingraham Show,” Trump reacted to Clinton’s critique of his visit Wednesday with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto. The former secretary of state argued that Trump could not compensate for strident remarks about illegal immigration with one meeting.

“Look, her record is horrible. The only thing she can do is go after me and you know, make up phrases from Madison Avenue and go after me.”

“She said it’s a long, slow process. And it is with her. Everything’s slow with her,” Trump said. “Look, her record is horrible. The only thing she can do is go after me and you know, make up phrases from Madison Avenue and go after me. And I guess it’s not working, because if you look at the polls that are coming out now, they’re going down big league.”

Trump, who repeated his vow to make Mexico pay for a border wall, ridiculed Clinton’s “uninspiring speech” to the American Legion Wednesday and linked her to President Obama.

“We don’t have the right leadership right now,” he said. “Hillary Clinton would be worse than Obama.”

Responding to complaints that he does not offer enough optimism, Trump said it is necessary to be realistic about problems instead of pretending they do not exist.

“If we have a problem with something you have to be able to talk about the problem … But in the end, what I say is we’re going to fix the problems,” he said. “We can fix them. And that’s where the sunshine comes in. We’re going to fix the problems. Some of them aren’t even hard to fix. It’s just common sense.”

Trump said Clinton offers no solutions to those problems.

“There’s nothing there,” he said. “There’s nothing there with Hillary.”

Immigration is a perfect example, Trump said. In contrast to his lengthy and detailed speech on the issue, he asked: What does Clinton offer?

“All she does is criticize. She doesn’t come up with policy. Where is her policy?” he said. “There’s no policy for illegal immigration. She wants to have open borders, where people pour in over the borders. And you know the problems that that’s causing.”

Trump contrasted his energy with Clinton, noting that she has not visited Mexico recently and did not meet with flood victims in Louisiana, as he did.

“Frankly, I don’t think she has the strength or the stamina to do it.,” he said. “And you’re not going to make America great again if you can’t do it. She should have gone to Louisiana. She should certainly go to Mexico.”
