Although Gennifer Flowers,  President Bill Clinton’s ex-flame, “agreed” to attend the first presidential debate on Monday night after Donald Trump floated the idea of asking her to sit in the front row, the Trump camp has confirmed that Flowers will not be attending as a guest.

In what may be the latest masterful media move from the GOP nominee, Trump first posited the idea of inviting Flowers in response to rumors Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton would be inviting outspoken Trump critic Mark Cuban.

“If dopey Mark Cuban of failed Benefactor fame wants to sit in the front row, perhaps I will put Gennifer Flowers right alongside of him!”

Flowers, a former model who carried on a 12-year affair with Bill Clinton during the 1980’s, responded publicly she would attend the debate at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, if asked. The Trump camp has now made clear Flowers won’t actually be attending, but only after the media helped remind the entire nation of the Clintons’ unseemly past.

“If dopey Mark Cuban of failed Benefactor fame wants to sit in the front row, perhaps I will put Gennifer Flowers right alongside of him!” Trump tweeted on Saturday.

Following Trump’s tweet, Judy Snell, Flowers’ personal assistant, confirmed in an email to BuzzFeed News that Flowers would attend the debate.

“Ms. Flowers has agreed to join Donald at the debate,” the email said.

Flowers then confirmed on her public Facebook that she planned to attend the debate.

“Hi Donald Trump … I’m in your corner. Of course I will see u at the debate!!,” Flowers posted.

The news quickly blasted rumors about Cuban’s attendance out of the national conversation and forced Clinton’s campaign to respond.

“Hillary Clinton plans on using the debate to discuss the issues that make a difference in people’s lives,” Clinton campaign spokeswoman Jennifer Palmieri said, according to Fox News. “It’s not surprising that Donald Trump has chosen a different path.”

On Sunday, the Trump campaign put the rumor to rest.

Trump’s running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, said on “Fox News Sunday” that “Gennifer Flowers will not be attending the debate tomorrow night.” Pence then critiqued Clinton’s invitation for Cuban.

“Hillary Clinton apparently thinks this is an episode of ‘Shark Tank,'” Pence said, adding, “Mark Cuban has been out there saying some pretty tough stuff about my running mate … [He] knows about as much about national security as I do about professional basketball.”

The revelation that Bill Clinton carried on an affair with Flowers for over a decade nearly destroyed his White House hopes in 1992 when it came to light one month before the New Hampshire primary. Clinton was only able to move past the revelation because Hillary Clinton joined him on “60 Minutes” to stand by her husband and slam Flowers. Although Bill Clinton admitted that he had “caused pain” in his marriage, he avoided confessing to the infidelity. It wasn’t until six years later that Bill was forced to admit under oath that he had indeed carried on an affair with Flowers.
