White House adviser Sebastian Gorka warned the regime in North Korea against testing the current president or the military might of the nation he claims is the only global “hyper-power.”

Gorka made his comments in response to questions over President Donald Trump’s strong rhetoric warning that North Korea would be met with “fire and fury the likes of which the world has never seen” should that nation attack the U.S. or one of its allies.

“He’s saying don’t test America, and don’t test Donald J. Trump,” he explained Wednesday on Fox News’ “Fox and Friends.”

“We are not just the superpower. We were a superpower, we are now a hyper-power,” Gorka said. “Nobody in the world, especially not North Korea, comes close to challenging our military capabilities, whether they are conventional, whether they are nuclear, or whether they are Special Forces.”

“So the message is very clear: Don’t test this White House, Pyongyang,” he added.

But despite the U.S.’s unmatched power and President Trump’s unmistakable warning, the threat posed by North Korea cannot be dismissed, Gorka stressed.

“Look, we are not taking the actions that we’ve taken, especially the United Nations Security Council, which was a historic vote this weekend — we aren’t taking them because there isn’t a threat, we’re taking them because North Korea represents a grave threat,” he said. “To quote Secretary Tillerson, John McMaster, the President, Secretary Mattis … a grave threat. Not only to the region, but to the United States.”

“Nevertheless you look at the phrase from the Cold War, the correlation of forces. We are a hyper-power. North Korea is a very, very insignificant threat in terms of scale. They have this capability that they are using to blackmail the West, but you never give in to dictators, and you never give into blackmail. And that’s why North Korea has to de-escalate right now,” Gorka continued.

The adviser explained that blackmail was at the heart of North Korea’s belligerence.

“It’s absolutely clear. This is a regime because it is so Stalinist and because it cannot provide for its own people, it has to extort concessions from the West,” said Gorka.

“Their people are starving,” he said. “Think about that … starving … there’s Cuba as well. There’s China … the last hard-core Stalinist regime out there. As such, their lifeline is China and extorting concessions from the west, but it has to end now.”

Gorka also stressed that it was North Korea’s responsibility to de-escalate the current diplomatic situation. “They can send a very simple signal. A signal that costs them nothing. They stop the rhetoric and they stop the missile testing.”

“If they do that, they signal to the world that OK, we get it. We’ve lost all our friends, we’ve painted ourselves into a corner, and we’re not going to escalate it anymore. That’s all they need to do.”
