Top Clinton Aide Has a Past with Radical Islam

Hillary Clinton confidante Huma Abedin has longstanding ties to a Saudi publication that has peddled in radical Islamic ideology and anti-American rhetoric, according to a new report on Monday.

While Abedin was an intern for then-first lady Clinton in the 1990s, she also worked as an assistant editor for the Journal of Muslim Minority Affairs — a publication where Abedin’s mother was, and remains, editor-in-chief.

“Pushing [mothers] out into the open labor market is a clear demonstration of a lack of respect of womanhood and motherhood.”

According to the New York Post, the journal “opposed women’s rights and blamed the U.S. for 9/11.” It was also reportedly “founded and funded by the former head of the Muslim World League,” an international Islamic organization known for skirting the line with extremism.

The Abedin connection is particularly inconvenient for Clinton, who has staked much of her campaign on being a champion for women.

Muslim Minority Affairs, under the leadership of Abedin’s mother, has a long history of opposing what most Americans would consider equality for women.

In a 1996 article, Abedin’s mother, Saleha Mahmood Abedin, touted the subservience of women under Sharia law and argued the “’empowerment’ of women does more harm than benefit the cause of women or their relations with men.”

In 1995, Clinton addressed the United Nation’s conference on women in Bejing, where she famously said “women’s rights are human rights.”

Abedin’s mother was in attendance at the conference as the Muslim World League’s delegate and reportedly described Clinton’s speech as “very aggressive and radically feminist.”

The journal has also published even more radical articles pushing an extremist Islamic worldview.

One article published in 1996, titled “Women’s Rights Are Islamic Rights,” warned of “the dangers of alternative lifestyles.”

“Pushing [mothers] out into the open labor market is a clear demonstration of a lack of respect of womanhood and motherhood,” the author wrote.

The article details why single moms, working moms, and gay couples with children shouldn’t be recognized as family units.

“A conjugal family established through a marriage contract between a man and a woman, and extended through procreation is the only definition of family a Muslim can accept,” the article read.

The article goes on to suggest that women wearing revealing clothing deserve to be raped, explaining that immodest dress “translates into unwanted results of sexual promiscuity and irresponsibility and indirectly promote[s] violence against women.”

Abedin is widely speculated to be White House chief-of-staff if Clinton wins the presidency — a post of massive influence and power in the federal government.
