The photograph of the dead little girl in Nice with her doll lying next to her perfectly portrays the Islamic jihadist ideology. It’s the ideology that stole the life of that innocent child and scores of others who gathered together to watch fireworks and celebrate liberty.

Tunisian-born Mohamed Lahouaijel Bouhlel sat behind the wheel of a truck, and plowed through the crowd of hundreds for over a mile. When the attack was over, the Promenade des Anglais was covered in the blood of the 84 killed and the hundreds wounded. ISIS cheered the demented attack and claimed Bouhlel as their “soldier.”

ISIS is waging war on the West, and — sorry, Loretta Lynch — our love won’t stop them.

Humanity is supposed to transcend culture, but the Islamic jihadism embraced by Salafi Muslims is devoid of humanity. Their ideology is cruel, evil, and it spreads like a particularly aggressive medieval cancer. According to French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve, this particular attacker “got radicalized very rapidly.”

There was no gun law that could stop this killer. In fact, he inflicted more death than any attacker has ever managed with an AR-15. There was no terror watch list that could stop him — even though he was “creepy,” according to the people who knew him, and even though he committed petty crimes with regularity.

This horrific attack illustrates the life and death importance of having an immigration policy that protects citizens from the realities of the world instead of denying those realities.

Europe and France failed to protect those who were murdered in Nice by not recognizing that sovereign borders are the only protection against Islamic jihadist ideology. When a migrant who has committed crimes against French people still has a permit to live and work in France, the government is failing the governed. And this failure is quickly becoming a motif of European politics.

In the United States, the two major political parties are in an all-out populist vs. globalist battle over immigration policy.

The Democratic Party has moved far left on immigration, and their 2016 platform ditches language from the 2012 platform which stated that undocumented immigrants need to “get right with the law, learn English, and pay taxes in order to get on a path to earn citizenship.” The Democrats have now decided that U.S. citizenship isn’t worth all that, and they’ve tossed out those requirements and opted to give it away for free. In essence, the Democrats want to follow the European-style globalist agenda. And their torch-bearer, Hillary Clinton, favors a 550 percent increase in Syrian refugees — even though it’s no secret that ISIS uses the refugee population to smuggle terrorists into the West.

The Republicans were also moving left on immigration until Donald Trump pushed the Establishment aside, took the wheel of the party, and started steering it to the right. The new GOP platform has even embraced the border wall Trump’s been promising, and Trump supports safe zones in Syria for the basically unvettable Syrian refugees. Trump is also for what his running mate Mike Pence described last night as a ban on “immigration from countries where terrorists represent a threat to the United States.”

Trump has been called racist, xenophobic, and everything else for his immigration promises, but no matter what rhetoric progressive politicians employ to smear those who believe in American sovereignty, the fact remains that there is no natural, constitutional, or civil right that guarantees a non-citizen entry into the United States. It is a privilege, and it must be given only to those willing to embrace basic American values.

Alexander Hamilton — who was about to get booted from the $10 bill but suddenly gained pop culture cred thanks to a Broadway musical — once wrote that “the safety of a republic depends essentially on the energy of a common National sentiment” and “to admit foreigners indiscriminately to the rights of citizens the moment they put foot in our country would be nothing less than to admit the Grecian horse into the citadel of our liberty and sovereignty.”

America is not a college campus, and our government does not exist to ensure diversity at any cost — it exists to secure the blessings of liberty for its citizens and their posterity, and the blessings of liberty are not secure if we reach a point when we can’t be free to gather together in a crowd without fear of a mass murderer. The blessings of liberty are not secure if we reach a time when we can’t be free to celebrate independence. The authority to decide who may walk among us and the ability to know who walks among us are the best weapons we have against ISIS and their Jihadist ideology.

ISIS is waging war on the West, and — sorry, Loretta Lynch — our love won’t stop them. Being in denial about their existence, capabilities, and goals won’t stop them. Letting people illegally pour over the border with impunity certainly won’t stop them. The more Americans see the havoc that globalist, open-border policies are wreaking on European nations like France, the more PCism will erode and the more popular protecting American sovereignty will become.
