Some traditionally GOP donors are throwing their lot in with Hillary Clinton as Donald Trump continues to threaten the GOP Establishment’s pro-globalization platform.

Clinton was endorsed on Thursday by Jim Cicconi, a senior executive vice president at AT&T, and Dan Akerson, former chairman and CEO of General Motors. Both men have been heavily involved in Republican politics.

As Trump emerges as the likely GOP nominee, Hillary emerges as the last best hope for those in the GOP who put profits before country.

Cicconi worked in the White House under Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush and said he has supported every GOP candidate in 1976. However, “this year I think it’s vital to put our country’s well-being ahead of party,” he said in a statement released by the Clinton campaign.

“Hillary Clinton is experienced, qualified, and will make a fine president. The alternative, I fear, would set our nation on a very dark path,” Cicconi said. Akerson has also voted consistently for Republicans in presidential elections, but in a statement also released by the Clinton campaign said that “Donald Trump lacks each” of the characteristics necessary for the office.

“Serving as the leader of the free world requires effective leadership, sound judgment, a steady hand, and most importantly, the temperament to deal with crises large and small,” he said.

But Clinton has not demonstrated effective leadership, sound judgement, or a steady hand. She certainly hasn’t demonstrated the temperament to deal with crises — though she is quite adept at deflecting attention from them.

One thing Clinton has demonstrated is a consistent willingness to sell out the country to the forces of globalization — to the big banks, free (but not really free) trade agreements, supranational organizations like the World Trade Organization, and mass immigration.

The truth is that globalization begets massive profits for corporations like AT&T and General Electric, and those heavily invested in such companies are all too willing to put their profits ahead of the will of the American people.

Cicconi and Akerson join the ranks of other former Republicans and self-proclaimed conservatives who have revealed themselves to be full supporters of a globalist new world order.

Brent Scowcroft, a former national security adviser for two GOP presidents, endorsed Hillary Clinton on Wednesday. His support comes only a week after Richard Armitage, the longtime Republican foreign-policy hand who worked under both Bushes, said he would also back Clinton if Trump receives the GOP nomination.

“She brings deep expertise in international affairs and a sophisticated understanding of the world, which I believe are essential for the commander-in-chief,” Scowcroft said.

But what she really brings is expertise in international wheeling and dealing, and a clear understanding of the interests and desires of her globalist allies.

As Trump emerges as the likely GOP nominee, Hillary emerges as the last best hope for those in the GOP who put profits before country. And should he secure that nomination, it is likely even more Republicans ready and willing to sell out the country to the globalists will slither out of the woodwork.
