President Obama is moving aggressively to protect the flow of revenue to Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers before he leaves office.

Obama has finalized a rule that would benefit Planned Parenthood and protect abortion providers from the democratic grant-making process in the states.

“The Obama administration will not have the last word. With this new year comes renewed opportunity to fight for the dignity of every unborn child.”

Lawmakers have vowed to reverse the rule.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ new rule will prevent states from blocking Title X funding, which are federal dollars for family planning services, to abortion providers like Planned Parenthood, according to LifeNews.com.

The rule, posted on the HHS site, asserts that because Planned Parenthood offers other medical services, such as cancer screenings, states cannot take Title X money and divert it away from Planned Parenthood.

“This rule will strengthen access to essential services like cancer screenings and contraception for some of the most vulnerable patients in this country,” said Dr. Karen A. Scott, of the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health. “Public comments showed overwhelming support for finalizing the rule, which clarifies that all organizations able to provide these services should be eligible to compete for funds.”

In other words, states such as Tennessee, whose counties have identified other providers who do not offer abortion, will be forced to send some of the money to Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers.

According to LifeNews.com, Rep. Diane Black (R-Tenn.) said she hopes the incoming administration of President-Elect Donald Trump will end the rule.

“Come next year, our pro-life majorities in Congress will be positioned to work with President-Elect Trump and pro-life nominee for secretary of health and human services, Dr. Tom Price, to not only roll back this latest overreach but also to enact new legal protections for these most vulnerable members of our society,” Black said in a statement. “The Obama administration will not have the last word. With this new year comes renewed opportunity to fight for the dignity of every unborn child, the well-being of every struggling mother, and the conscience rights of every American taxpayer.”
