Donald Trump received some good news Wednesday when a smattering of polls showed a much tighter contest with Hillary Clinton in several swing states than the media’s coverage would let on.

A Bloomberg Politics poll released Wednesday showed the GOP nominee leading Clinton among likely Florida voters by two points at 45 to 43 percent in a 4-way race with Gary Johnson and Jill Stein. In a two-way matchup, Trump led Clinton by one point at 46 to 45 percent. A Remington Research poll found Trump maintaining his lead in Ohio by four points at 46 to 42 percent. A CNN/ORC poll also found Trump leading Clinton by four points in the Buckeye State.

And in Pennsylvania, a Remington Research poll found Trump trailing Clinton in a four-way race by a mere three points in a state where he had been lagging behind by 8-12 points just a couple of weeks ago. In addition, Trump shrunk Clinton’s lead in New Hampshire to four points at 46 to 42 in a four-way race, according to a new Monmouth University poll. Just last month, Trump was nine points behind Clinton.

“What does matter is the direction the polls are trending, and right now most national and swing state polls show Trump with all the momentum,” Eddie Zipperer, assistant professor of political science at Georgia Military College, told LifeZette in an email. “In the [RealClearPolitics] average of national polls, Trump has gone up a full 2 points in 12 days, 1.2 points in just over a week. If this trend continues, the polls will be very tight on election day.”

With only 13 days to go until Election Day, Trump’s resurgence in some swing-state polls could bring fresh enthusiasm and optimism to a campaign that has been declared dead by most of the mainstream media.

Zipperer said the escalating collapse of President Obama’s healthcare law and the steady stream of revelations courtesy of WikiLeaks have handed Trump fresh opportunity.

“I think Trump’s current momentum has a lot to do with scandal after scandal dripping from the WikiLeaks,” Zipperer said. He added, “I think the implosion of Obamacare that has some people facing [premium] rate increases over 100 percent will have a big effect on polls in the coming days.”
