National security expert Dr. Sebastian Gorka called Monday’s attack at Ohio State University a “textbook” instance of a “classic al-Qaida or ISIS trade craft” during an interview Tuesday on “The Laura Ingraham Show.”

Gorka, the author of The New York Times best-seller “Defeating Jihad: The Winnable War” and professor of strategy and irregular warfare at the Institute of World Politics, criticized the United States’ immigration and refugee policies under the Obama administration. The OSU attacker, a Somali refugee student named Abdul Razak Ali Artan, wreaked havoc on the university when he rammed his vehicle into a group of people and continued his rampage outside the car with a knife.

“This is classic al-Qaida or ISIS trade craft,” Gorka told LifeZette Editor-in-Chief Laura Ingraham. “In the eight years of the Obama administration, the federal government has let 50,000 Somalis into the country as refugees. This case tells you the concept of extreme vetting that President-elect Donald Trump has been talking about is simply common sense.”

Gorka compared Monday’s incident with a 2013 attack in London, in which a British soldier was run down with a car and stabbed to death with knives and a cleaver by two Islamic extremists. He also noted that magazines circulated by both al-Qaida and ISIS recommend using vehicles to attack infidels.

President Obama’s immigration and refugee policies have done nothing to help address the threat of Islamic terrorism, both Ingraham and Gorka suggested.

“To defeat jihad, we need a better, smarter, more pragmatic and realistic approach to immigration and the refugee asylum policy of the United States,” Ingraham said. “This is another story that I keep saying could be prevented if we put America first in our security, in our immigration, in our refugee policies.”

Gorka agreed, adding that any person coming into the U.S. from war zones or unstable countries must be vetted thoroughly.

“If they don’t integrate or don’t want to integrate, we will see more individuals like this who suddenly say, ‘OK, I don’t like this country anyway and I’m going to kill my fellow Americans because they’re infidels.’ This is a certainty,” Gorka warned.
