The mainstream media would have you believe that the millennial generation is full of liberal drones marching in lockstep with the progressive agenda. But the reality is quite different. Many millennials are left jaded by the Obama administration and recognize the failure of his economic policies.

A new USA Today/Rock the Vote poll among millennials — adults between the ages of 18 and 34 — shows that millennials trend conservative when it comes to the economy, foreign policy and the protection of the Second Amendment right.

Surprisingly, 58 percent of millennials want to protect the Second Amendment right of Americans to buy guns — showing that they fundamentally believe in the constitutional right to bear arms.

Overall, there are two significant issues that are of utmost importance to millennials: the economy as well as college affordability and student debt. A close third, is foreign policy and terrorism.

Millennials, some 80 million strong, are feeling the impact of a stagnant economy, where jobs are hard to come by as they try to juggle their hefty student loan payments. One only needs to look as far as the president’s economic policies to realize they are the real job crushers. According to U.S. census data, 40 percent of the unemployed population are millennials — equating to almost five million young adults out of a job.

What’s more, the number of millennials earning less than $25,000 per year has soared under the Obama administration. According to Pew Research Center polling, a quarter of the nation’s 18-to-34 year olds are less likely to be living independently of their parents than they were in the depths of the Great Recession. Many of these millennials have been hit hard by the Obama economy, which has left them staring at faded Obama posters on their parents’ basement walls. The man who promised to be their champion let them down.

On economic issues, 38 percent of millennials call themselves conservative in contrast to 33 percent who call themselves liberal in their views.

Similar results appeared in a poll conducted by the polling company inc./Woman Trend on behalf of Young America’s Foundation (YAF). The poll among adults between the ages of 18 and 24 showed that 34 percent of millennials prefer free enterprise over socialism, the choice of just 15 percent, despite the hoopla over Bernie Sanders.

YAF’s public relations officer Emily Jashinsky said the polling shows millennials have a lot of the same cares as everyone else. “The results of the USA Today/Rock the Vote poll echo what many other polls have shown — young people care most about jobs, student loan debt, and the economy,” she said. “And they tend to agree with conservatives on how to solve the problems associated with those issues. Nobody should be surprised that young people have more faith in free markets and limited government than federal intervention.”

With the growing threat of radical Islamic terrorism, it is no surprise millennials would care deeply about the issue. Shockingly, 47 percent say the United States should commit troops on the ground to combat the Islamic State, while 37 percent disagree.

This viewpoint serves as a stark contrast to the Obama administration’s approach on combating terrorism, including a vow not commit ground troops.

More broadly, in regard to their views on foreign policy, 37 percent of millennials identify as conservative while 28 percent identify as liberal.

Fascinating new polling from the research firm Evolving Strategies, shows that Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton slips 5, 7, and 8 points respectively with millennial voters in matchups against Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, and Ted Cruz when hit with just a single attack ad.

The ad, sponsored by the StopHillary PAC, included Hillary’s testimony on Benghazi, a huge foreign policy blunder during her time as Secretary of State.

“No one would think Benghazi is an important issue to millennials but it does move them when presenting a case against Hillary,” said Evolving Strategies founder and chief science officer, Adam Schaeffer.

It is worth mentioning that when it comes to social issues such as gay rights and race relations, millennials tend to lean more to the left, with 42 percent identifying liberal and 32 percent identifying conservative.

Yet when Democrats are challenged on their record and their failed policies are exposed, millennials tend to trend more conservative.
