Maine Gov. Paul LePage on Wednesday ripped into prominent Republicans who are fleeing GOP nominee Donald Trump.

The bombastic LePage, who has at times has been compared to Trump himself for his lack of a political filter, said on the “The Howie Carr Show” Wednesday that Trump’s Republican critics are drawing a false equivalency between the GOP nominee’s foul mouth and Democrat Hillary Clinton’s dangerous conduct.

“Donald Trump, OK, my grandmother’s alive, she’d give him a bar of soap and clean his mouth out … But I will say this: When Hillary opens her mouth, people die.”

“Donald Trump, OK, my grandmother’s alive, she’d give him a bar of soap and clean his mouth out,” he said. “She did it to me all the time. No doubt. But I will say this: When Hillary opens her mouth, people die.”

LePage said he he is appalled at Senate Majority Leader Mitch MicConnell (R-Ky.), House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis), Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and others who have backed away from Trump after having endorsed him.

“These guys play the game, they’re into the arena. They know what’s going on,” he said. “They’re a bunch of hypocrites, if you want to know the truth. They’re all a bunch of hypocrites. We all have skeletons in our closets.”

LePage sprayed rhetorical fire like a machine gun. Here are a few of his targets:

On Ryan: “I bet Paul Ryan has lost all respect from me. He’s got to make his own mind up [about whether he should resign]. But I will tell you, John Boehner had the [courage] to say, ‘I’ve lost control.’ … Shame on him [Ryan].”

On former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger: “Probably the worst governor in my lifetime. He was a horrific, terrible governor. He did OK in action movies, but I want to tell you something, he was a terrible politician, a terrible governor, and he sure as hell can’t stand in judgment of anybody.”

On the media: “This country was built on the First Amendment and Second Amendment. And the First Amendment is almost an embarrassment now because the media has become so one-sided, so biased … They love to kill with words.”

On political insiders: “The politicians inside the Beltway, they’ve fallen for this. And they are just as bad as the media. I don’t know which is worse, a journalist or a politician.”

On leaked emails showing Clinton supporters bashing Catholics (which he heard for the first time when Carr read the text): “Oh, my God … Wow.”

LePage said Clinton has lied to Congress, the judge presiding over a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit seeking her email records as secretary of state and the American people about the Benghazi, Libya, terrorist attacks.

“This lady lives a lie and then the mainstream media just buys into the lies,” he said. “And it’s a shame. it’s a shame, shame, shame.”
