Marine Le Pen, leader of France’s right-wing populist Front National, called for end to state benefits for illegal immigrants Thursday — including providing them with free health care and their children with free education.

“I’ve got nothing against foreigners but I say to them: If you come to our country, don’t expect that you will be taken care of, treated and that your children will be educated for free,” Le Pen said in a speech. “That’s finished now, no more playtime,” she added.

A 2013 report by the Federation for American Immigration Reform found that illegal aliens cost American taxpayers roughly $113 billion per year

In what will surely be a surprise to absolutely no one, Le Pen’s comments have drawn an intensely hysterical reaction from the progressive powers-that-be. “With these words, which I condemn with the utmost force, Mrs. Le Pen shows … her utter indifference terrible humanitarian situations affecting young children,” wrote France’s Education Secretary Najat Belkacem.

Of course, Belkacem is a member of France’s ruling socialist party, so it’s hardly shocking that she would do her best to depict Le Pen’s words as somehow “bigoted.”

It is Belkacem herself who is open to charges of indifference to the terrible strain that illegal immigrants place on the social services and infrastructure of their host countries. The cost of illegal immigration to the U.S. taxpayer, for example, is staggering — and the incoming Trump administration would be wise to follow Le Pen’s lead. A July 2016 report by the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) discovered illegal aliens could be costing American taxpayers over $1.4 billion in food stamp benefits alone.

Meanwhile, unemployment benefits for illegal aliens are costing Americans roughly $1.6 billion a year, according to CIS research. In 2013, CIS estimated that medical costs for uninsured illegal aliens cost taxpayers at $4.3 billion per year.

In Texas alone, a 2010 Texas Health and Human Services Commission report estimated that illegal aliens cost the state $717 million in unpaid medical bills. It is estimated that illegal aliens take roughly $2 billion in Medicaid payments under the Emergency Medicaid program, despite largely avoiding federal income taxes.

That $113 billion total works out to a cost of over $1,110 per native-headed household. Since states bear the brunt of the cost of illegal immigration, and even more states have offered even more benefits to illegal aliens over the last three years, the real cost at present for illegal immigration is probably well over $113 billion.

Given that many states have dramatically expanded the benefits they offer to illegal aliens since 2013, the cost that illegal aliens have on the American taxpayer at present is surely far higher.
