In what is no doubt truly a historic moment for the United States, Hillary Clinton has become the first woman to accept the presidential nomination from a major American political party.

But the Democrats and the mainstream media are celebrating as if they are witnessing an event equally as important as when man first walked on the moon.

Hillary Clinton will have the grand distinction of becoming the 43rd woman to be president, prime minister, or chancellor of a developed, democratic country.

Should she win the election, that groundbreaking development would make Hillary Clinton the 15th woman to be elected head of state of a developed nation (nations registering a .8 or higher on the Human Development Index), and the 27th head of government of one.

That’s right, Hillary Clinton will have the grand distinction of becoming the 43rd woman to be president, prime minister, or chancellor of a developed, democratic country. Of course this Earth-shattering achievement should be praised.

The liberal media are often tempted to tout Clinton’s coronation as proof positive of the Democratic Party’s enlightened politics. Only the progressive party could elect a woman to lead the people, they say.

BEAT
Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydło

Liberals have a reputation for having a poor grasp on history, so it’s hardly surprising they’ve never heard of Margaret Thatcher — prime minister of the United Kingdom, leader of the Conservative Party, close ally of Ronald Reagan, and one of the most famous leaders of the 20th century, female or otherwise.

It is strange, however, that they are apparently unaware of Beata Szydło, prime minister of Poland and member of the national conservative Law and Justice Party, especially considering President Obama was in Poland only last week.

KIRCH
Former Argentinean President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner

It’s also rather interesting that the liberal media didn’t welcome Theresa May’s becoming U.K. prime minister with much fanfare. Though she wasn’t elected by the country at large, and assumed power only in the wake of former Prime Minister David Cameron’s stepping down, she was involved in a party leadership election, by the end of which her only remaining opponent was another woman, Andrea Leadsom.

But none this is of any concern to liberals in America. The Democrats are sending a message to little girls across the country that they too can grow up to ride their husband’s coattails, steal a primary election from a septuagenarian socialist, and one day run for president. And that’s what’s important.

Unfortunately, Clinton wouldn’t even be the first woman in the Americas to piggyback off her husband into a presidency. Former President of Argentina Cristina Fernández de Kirchner did the very same thing.

Interestingly, Kirchner would go on to lead a hawkish administration mired by scandal and charges of corruption.
