Hillary Clinton bemoaned to a group of rich bankers about how hard it can be to be rich in America, with all the “bias” against “successful” people.

A number of remarks made by Clinton in paid speeches were made public Friday in emails leaked by WikiLeaks. The leaked emails from Hillary’s campaign chairman, John Podesta, included “flagged” remarks from Clinton transcripts that were identified as potentially damaging.

“Part of the problem with the political situation, too, is that there is such a bias against people who have led successful and-or complicated lives.”

Among those that could be most politically harmful to Clinton were remarks made in 2013 in which Clinton said the wealthy have to face a bias in U.S. society.

“Part of the problem with the political situation, too, is that there is such a bias against people who have led successful and/or complicated lives,” Hillary told Goldman Sachs on Oct. 29, 2013. “You know, the divestment of assets, the stripping of all kinds of positions, the sale of stocks.”

In the emails, Clinton said banks were unfairly blamed for the Great Recession, but chalked it up to understandable politics. But in remarks to Goldman-Black Rock on Feb. 4, 2014, Clinton reminded the powerful she was one of them now, “far removed” from the past.

“[We] had a solid middle-class upbringing,” Clinton said. “And now, obviously, I’m kind of far removed because the life I’ve lived and the economic, you know, fortunes that my husband and I now enjoy, but I haven’t forgotten it.”
