Since the discovery of Hillary Clinton’s private “home-brew” email server, she has trivialized the magnitude of the situation, claiming that the FBI investigation into her potentially criminal behavior is just a routine security check-up.

“It’s in our name … We’re conducting an investigation. That’s what we do.” — FBI Director James Comey

But FBI Director James Comey sees the situation very differently from Clinton and is adamant that the investigation being conducted by his team is, in fact, an investigation. “It’s in our name,” Comey said. “I’m not familiar with the term ‘security inquiry.’ We’re conducting an investigation. That’s what we do.”

Despite the fact that Clinton believes she has done nothing wrong and has never put national security in jeopardy, it is a fact that more than 2,100 of her emails have been deemed “classified.” However, Clinton still states that none of the messages were marked classified at the time she received them.

Comey is feeling pressure to complete the investigation, but is keeping a close eye on the case. “We want to do it well and we want to do it promptly,” Comey said. “I feel pressure to do both of those things. As between the two things, we will always choose ‘well.'”

The interview with Comey comes on the heels of reports that Clinton is soon to be investigated personally by the director himself.

In recent days and weeks, aides and staff members of Clinton’s have been interviewed by the FBI regarding Clinton’s email correspondence during her tenure as secretary of state. Just this Tuesday, the FBI interviewed Clinton’s chief of staff, Cheryl Mills. It was reported that Mills and her lawyer stood up and left the interview after the investigator asked a question that was deemed “off-limits.”

That presumptuousness raised eyebrows. Mills returned to the room shortly after but also took additional breaks throughout the interview to confer with her lawyer, according to reports.

What’s more, longtime pal and confidante of the Clintons, Sidney Blumenthal, is now involving himself in the email investigation. While Blumenthal has not said whether he was contacted by the FBI, he attested to Clinton’s innocence and repeated her talking points in an interview with CNN on Wednesday.

“My understanding is that this is a security review,” Blumenthal said. “It’s certainly not a criminal investigation. It’s an inquiry into whether anyone intentionally put classified information where it shouldn’t be.”

Fascinating, given that in March it was reported that Blumenthal sent Clinton various emails containing classified information — even though he was never an employee of the federal government. During the time that Clinton was secretary of state, Blumenthal was working for the Clinton Foundation, which has come under fire for its acceptance of donations from countries that practice human rights abuses, among other things.

As the investigation begins to comes to a close, there have been no initial reports that Clinton has been accused of any criminal wrongdoing, but the case sure does stink to high heaven of political corruption at the highest level.
