Clinton Foundation executive Doug Band, on a trip to Israel in 2009, joked with Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin about religious-ethnic violence in the Jewish State, according to emails obtained by the conservative advocacy group Citizens United.

Band was in Israel with his boss, former President Bill Clinton, to attend The Saban Forum, a three-day confab organized by the Brookings Institution in Jerusalem involving some of the biggest names in American and Israeli politics. Clinton was a featured speaker at a dinner gala, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered the keynote address.

“Had a good tour today Saw your people trying to kill mine As always”

A longtime confidante of Hillary Clinton, Abedin, who was deputy chief of staff at the State Department at the time, emailed Band on Nov. 15, 2009, to ask how the trip was going. He replied that it was the usual “b.s.” in Israel.

“Had a good tour today,” he wrote. “Saw your people trying to kill mine As always.”

Band is Jewish, and Abedin is Muslim.

The joke was an apparent reference to the long-running Arab-Israeli dispute and persistent threat of terror attacks in Israel. Although it does not appear there were actually any terror attacks carried out that week, there have been an estimated 1,313 people killed by pro-Palestinian terrorists in Israel since September of 2000, according to the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Abedin apparently appreciated the joke. “Funnneeee,” she responded.

Citizens United obtained the email exchange through a Freedom of Information Act request and shared it exclusively with LifeZette. It is far from the most damaging material to come from Clinton-related emails obtained by organizations leading the fight for transparency from Clinton’s tenure at the State Department. But it is yet another reminder of how closely intertwined the family-run charity was with the State Department while Clinton was in charge at Foggy Bottom.

Band communicated regularly with Abedin, who with Clinton’s permission held an unusual dual role as a government employee and a private consultant who did work for the Clinton Foundation. Band frequently made requests to set up meetings between the secretary of state and mega-donors to the foundation.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has blasted the arrangement as a “pay-to-play” scheme and has called for a special prosecutor to investigate. The Clinton campaign has argued that she did nothing wrong and that the emails and other documents that have been released do not a prove a quid pro quo involving any donor.
