Democrats Russian to Conclusions

WikiLeaks released a treasure trove of hacked emails at the end of last week, which revealed the Democratic National Committee’s eager participation in sabotaging Sen. Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign — but don’t worry, it’s all Russia’s fault!

In an incredible, twisted bait-and-switch that displays the full extent and power of collusion between the mainstream media and the Democrats, liberals turned what should be a story about rampant anti-democratic corruption in the Democratic Party into a smoke-and-mirrors tale of a conspiratorially cozy relationship between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.

Liberals are leaching on to the idea that the Russian government hacked into the DNC and released the emails in an attempt to influence the results of the U.S. election in Trump’s favor.

“Changes to the Republican platform to make it more pro-Russian,” noted Robert Mook, Clinton’s campaign manager, on Sunday. “I don’t think it’s coincidental that these emails were released on the eve of our convention here, and I think that’s disturbing,” Mook added.

Despite no definitive public proof that Russia was in fact behind the hack, liberals are latching onto the idea that the Russian government hacked into the DNC and released the emails in an attempt to influence the results of the U.S. election in Trump’s favor.

Indeed, this allegation has been so heavily promoted that many are already accepting it as fact. “The truth is that a Trump victory in November would be a gift to Vladimir Putin, and given what we’ve learned about Russia’s recent actions, Putin is eager to see Trump win,” said former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright on Tuesday.

Even President Obama himself managed to descend to the level of a conspiracy-floating basement-dweller commenting on an MSNBC blog post. “Anything’s possible,” Obama said in reference to the idea that Russia hacked the DNC in order to influence the election, during an interview with NBC.

Trump has “repeatedly expressed admiration” for Putin, Obama said. “I am basing this on what Mr. Trump himself has said,” Obama continued. “And I think that Trump’s gotten pretty favorable coverage back in Russia.”

Surely if Obama, the president of the United States, truly believed that Russia was behind the hack — that Putin was truly interfering in U.S. presidential election — he would in some way confront Russia publicly and demand it stops its interference.

In truth, he very much likely already knows who was responsible, but would rather take the opportunity to do his partisan part to undermine the Trump campaign in any way he can. “Evidence that could publicly attribute responsibility for the DNC hack certainly exists at #NSA, but DNI traditionally objects to sharing,” tweeted whistleblower and former CIA analyst Edward Snowden.

Russia has denied its involvement, and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange claims that there’s no way of knowing who was behind the hack.

“Moscow is at pains to avoid any words that could be interpreted as direct or indirect interference in the election process,” said Dmitry Peskov, a Kremlin spokesman.

“We see that the Russian card is in the red corner on the writing table of all Washington politicians during the election campaign, and that very often they make it a trump card in their game,” he added.

But even U.S. intelligence officials who believe Russia responsible “have cautioned that they are uncertain whether the electronic break-in at the committee’s computer systems was intended as fairly routine cyberespionage … or as part of an effort to manipulate the 2016 presidential election,” reports The New York Times.

Hardly content with the mere suggestion that Putin is subverting the U.S. election process in order to do his good pal Trump a favor, many in the media are now accusing Trump of actually requesting that Putin do so.

“By the way, they hacked — they probably have her 33,000 e-mails. I hope they do. They probably have her 33,000 emails that she lost and deleted because you’d see some beauties there. So let’s see,” Trump said, after being asked about the alleged Russian connection.

The media have managed to interpret this statement as a request to a foreign nation to commit an act of espionage. The following are just some of the headlines:

These headlines are blatant distortions. Trump clearly suggested that the Russians should release information he assumed they already have, not that they engage in further spycraft to gain information they do not possess. But of course liberals are intentionally ignoring this distinction.

It is also noteworthy that Democrats are now criticizing the prospect of a Trump presidency on the grounds that it would be good for Russia, and attacking the GOP platform for being “pro-Russian.” It seems that the party which once favored a reset of relations now favors a rematch of the Cold War.

Just as the Democrats are transforming from the party of the working man into the party of big banks, so too are they transforming from the professed party of peace into the party of anti-Russian aggression. Now they are engaging in soft saber-rattling merely to undermine the GOP candidate.

“It’s just a total deflection, this whole thing with Russia,” Trump said.
