The Democratic National Convention was a well-orchestrated exercise in propaganda. An Oscar-worthy performance, the Democrats presented a strong image unity and patriotism that, in truth, stands in stark contrast to the Party’s everyday words and deeds.

For issue after issue, controversy after controversy, the snake oil salesmen at the DNC offered shiny bottles of miracle cure, but uncork the nice bottle with the pretty label and its contents are the same toxic substance the Democrats have been peddling for decades.

The very same day Obama spoke of patriotic unity, violent, flag-burning protesters stormed the barricades

The central theme of this year’s DNC was unity. “We as a nation are better together, that when we are divided we are weak, we decline, yet when we are united we are strong,” said Sen. Corey Booker.

“We are not a zero-sum nation, it is not you or me, it is not one American against another American,” he continued. “It is you and I, together, interdependent, interconnected with one single interwoven destiny.”

“If you believe we are stronger together, then let’s work our hearts out to make Hillary Clinton the next president of the United States,” proclaimed Sen. Elizabeth Warren. Clinton herself sent a similar message.

“Powerful forces are threatening to pull us apart,” Clinton said. The Democratic nominee said that Americans must “decide whether we’re going to work together so we can all rise together,” and promised to be a president for Democrats, Republicans, and independents.”

The only people in the country who seem to believe such nonsense are Clinton’s allies in the mainstream media. Writes Eric Liu for CNN: the Democrats’ “spirit of true patriotism was best expressed and embodied, as it was 12 years ago at this convention, by Barack Obama.”

“He contrasted that belief in American ingenuity and decency with the pessimism and zero-sum fearfulness that Trump feeds on. He contrasted the ‘We’ of ‘We the People’ with Trump’s ‘I alone.’ He quoted Teddy Roosevelt. And he painted Hillary Clinton in these colors of patriotism properly understood,” Liu continued.

Astonishingly, even some self-proclaimed conservatives are calling the DNC patriotic. “The Democratic convention was a convention of patriotism this year,” said Erick Erickson. The “Democrats were for you,” he continued.

But the notion that a Party which has foisted toxic, identity politics on the country — and fueled those destructive politics by telling blacks, Hispanics, gays, and women what a terrible and awful place America is for them — has any interest in unity or patriotism is utterly absurd.

Indeed, were the Democrats the true protectors of patriotism, one might think they would have remembered to bring American flags to the convention.

The truth is that Democrats have taken every possible opportunity provided to them to spread disunion and anti-Americanism, including during the DNC. Indeed, the DNC featured prominent appearances from illegal aliens, the “Mothers of the Movement” group to fuel Black Lives Matter’s rage, and multiple speakers — including Clinton herself — who made references to America’s supposedly “systemic” racism.

Multiple speakers chastised Trump and his supporters for their apparent “hate,” and when the Democrats presented their token police officer to the audience, she was met with chants of “black lives matter.” Unity indeed.

It’s difficult to take seriously calls for unity and proclamations of patriotism coming from a party which has made a very public declaration of what “side” they are on regarding two incredibly controversial issues — immigration and race relations — whilst simultaneous painting their opponents on this topic as racist and bigoted.

Perhaps more absurd than the Democrats’ promise of a united America was their projection of a united party, a mirage the mainstream media is eagerly presenting to the country.

On Wednesday, Rep. Joaquin Castro described protests at the conventions as “very peaceful,” and claimed “it’s been a fairly unified convention.” “The Democratic Party is more unified than it seems,” read a Vox headline. Even Clinton promised Sanders supporters that “your cause is our cause.”

But while Establishment Democrats in and outside of the convention were spinning tales of party unity, riotous mobs of frustrated Sanders supporters surrounded the convention center to protest Clinton’s coronation. Indeed on Wednesday, the very same day Obama spoke of patriotic unity, violent, flag-burning protesters stormed the barricades. There were seven arrests.
