Self-styled journalists at CNN are so obsessed with weighing President Donald Trump down with hysteria over Russia they used an on-air segment Wednesday to debate the best catchphrase they could use to coin a scandal.

“New Day” co-hosts Alisyn Camerota and Chris Cuomo discussed with CNN political director David Chalian the best portmanteau with which to refer to Trump and Russia — Trussia or Rump.

“I think you went the wrong way on the combo. It should have been ‘Rump.'”

“I accidentally merged the words Trump and Russia and I said, ‘Trussia,'” Camerota told Chalian. “Do you feel this is a hashtag that could take off today?” she asked.

“Certainly sounds like a potential viral moment for you, Alisyn,” Chalian said. But “I don’t know if it will stick. I don’t know if it has real legs,” he said. “It could be one of those that has legs for the day but not much beyond that.”

“I think you went the wrong way on the combo,” chimed in Cuomo. “It should have been ‘Rump,'” Cuomo said. “Put it to the people,” Cuomo continued. “‘Trussia’ or ‘Rump’? What do you say.”

The network, which still claims to be the most centrist cable news outlet, has experienced a massive leftward shift over the course of the past two years and devotes a huge portion of its programming to trying to undermine Trump.

A study of CNN programming conducted by the right-leaning Media Research Center found that on a single day, May 12, the network devoted almost all of its coverage to negative discussions and stories about the president.

The analysis, first published on MRC Newsbusters, found that 90 percent of the total 13 hours, 27 minutes, of the network’s news day was devoted to Trump.

“Much of that airtime consisted of interviews and panel discussions giving their assessment of Trump,” MRC Newsbusters wrote. “The vast majority of all of CNN’s guests that day (96, or 78 percent of the total) were Trump critics, compared to a handful of pro-Trump guests (just seven, or 6 percent of the total).”
