During a discussion on MSNBC’s “Hardball” Wednesday about Jared Kushner’s influence in the White House, host Chris Matthews likened Kushner and his wife Ivanka Trump to Uday and Qusay Hussein, the notorious sons of the late Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein.

After USA Today’s Susan Page noted that Stephen Bannon’s removal from the NSC is “a sign of how powerful Jared Kushner is” and asserted that the “portfolio he has is extraordinary” — Matthews felt the need to lower the tone of the discussion.

“I know a couple [that powerful],” said Matthews. “Uday and Qusay in the old days of Saddam Hussein.” This was the second time Matthews made the comparison in just over a week.

But Matthews wasn’t finished. After comparing President Donald Trump’s family to the ill-fated Russian Romanov dynasty, he once again compared the Kushners to Uday and Qusay.

“I don’t see anybody who survives because it looks to me like the only ones surviving are family members,” said Matthews of an apparent civil war within the White House. “That’s all they got. Uday and Qusay here. That’s all they’ve got.”
