Liberals who loathe President Donald Trump and his “Make America Great Again” agenda soon will find a safe haven in Washington, D.C., when the anti-Trump Eaton Workshop hotel opens in the spring of 2018, just a few blocks away from the Trump International Hotel near the National Mall.

Katherine Lo, founder of the Eaton Workshop, told Bloomberg that she intended for the 209-room hotel in the vicinity of the Trump International Hotel to make a political statement. Noting that her goal wasn’t “to bring together Left and Right,” Lo said she wanted to create “a diversity of fields and backgrounds as well as gender and ethnicity” that diametrically opposes what she believes Trump represents.

“Self-selection is definitely one of our strategies” to reach people who are “woke,” Lo told Bloomberg. “We wanted to emphasize that it’s a place for people who are thinking outside the box and want to effect a change in the world.”

“We plan to have new ideas in the minibar — an activist toolkit, for example, that includes sheets with information to help you call your congresspeople,” Lo added. “And if we’d been open during this year’s Women’s March, I could have seen us putting poster boards and markers in the rooms.”

Bloomberg wrote, “In Trump’s Washington, Eaton is planting a clear flag as a haven for Democrats. It’s the world’s first politically motivated hotel, the flagship for a global brand that’s built around social activism and community engagement.”

The Eaton Workshop hotel plans to host progressive lecturers and emphasize community outreach efforts to tackle items on the liberal agenda. A video in the lobby will compare the 2012 presidential election to the 2016 presidential election with a decidedly anti-Trump slant.

The flagship hotel, located in Washington, D.C., will be followed by at least three other hotels: one in Hong Kong in 2018 and one in San Francisco and one in Seattle in 2019 or later.

“Looks like an attempt to build an actual, real-life liberal bubble,” Eddie Zipperer, an assistant professor of political science at Georgia Military College, told LifeZette in an email. “Leftists have become full-on ideological segregationists. They believe their intellectual superiority is such that there should be no opposing views.”

Saying that the Left “loves diversity of gender, skin color, and sexual orientation, but they despise intellectual diversity,” Zipperer warned: “This is a bad business plan.”

“‘Anti-Trumpers’ is hardly a demographic that can be tapped into long term,” Zipperer said. “Only the Left would be ridiculous enough to politicize a good night’s sleep.”
