The individual who opened fire in a shopping mall in Washington state Friday night has been apprehended and identified as Arcan Cetin, a permanent resident of the United States originally from Turkey.

While there have been no indications the shooting was an act of terror, the FBI said Saturday night that they were not ruling out terrorism as a possible motive. If the cause of militant Islam does turn out to be the motive, Cetin would be the latest in a long line of Muslim migrants — or U.S. born children of Muslim migrants — to have committed violence in the U.S. in the name of Jihad.

Cetin is at least the tenth Muslim migrant or child thereof to commit an act of mass violence in America in just the last few years

Cetin is at least the tenth Muslim migrant or child thereof to commit an act of mass violence in America in just the last few years. These attacks have taken the lives of nearly 90 Americans and injured nearly 440 more.

The Minnesota attacker who struck only last week, Dahir Adan, was a 22-year-old Kenyan-born Somali. Afghan-born Ahmad Khan Rahami was behind the bombings in New York and New Jersey that same weekend.

The perpetrators of the San Bernardino attack in Dec. 2015, Sayed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik, were the children of Pakistani migrants and a Pakistani migrant, respectively. The Tsarnaev brothers responsible for the Boston Marathon bombing were born in Kyrgyzstan to a Chechen migrant.

The perpetrator of the Chattanooga shootings in July 2015 was a Kuwaiti-born Palestinian called Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez, while the 2009 Fort Hood shooter, Nidal Hassan, was born to Palestinian parents. Omar Mateen, the June 2016 Orlando nightclub shooter, was born to Afghan parents.

The fact that the authorities were entertaining the possibility of terrorism could explain why they did nothing to correct initial reports the shooter was Hispanic until after he was apprehended. Given his escape and the ensuing manhunt, authorities likely wished to avoid the panic that would inevitably follow revelations of an ISIS terrorist on the loose.

There have been reports that Cetin’s motive had something to do with personal issues. He reportedly broke up with a girlfriend who worked at the Macy’s which he targeted, and some witnesses claimed he shouted a girl’s name before opening fire.

A girl problem could very well have been the motive behind Cetin’s actions. Of course, in the wake of the San Bernardino and Orlando shootings, many in the mainstream media were wont to blame the violence on personal issues. Those wishing to minimize the threat posed by radical Islam called San Bernardino an act of “workplace violence” and ascribed the brutal jihadist attack in Orlando to anti-gay motives.

Whatever the motive, the revelation of Cetin’s identity does no favors for those like Hillary Clinton who wish to bring more Muslim migrants into the United States.
