Raise your hand if you’ve grown weary of the constant barrage of fundraising appeals from educational institutions with massive endowments. They set massive fundraising goals, meet them, then proceed to raise tuition rates every year.

Harvard University, for example, has the largest endowment in the nation at $36.4 billion, followed by Yale at something like $24 billion and Princeton at $21 billion, just to cite a few numbers in the stratosphere.

How and why do these fundraising activities continue and is there anything we can do about it?

Check out an elite New England prep school’s appeal for alumni donations, followed by the searing response from one ticked-off alum. Names have been withheld to protect the guilty.
