Hillary Clinton only released more of her medical records because she was caught on video collapsing and being hoisted into a van at the 9/11 commemoration ceremony. Donald Trump, on the other hand, has never shown that he is anything but a robust, healthy, and energetic man.

And in a show of transparency unequaled by Clinton, Trump released his medical report Thursday for full scrutiny. In a conversation with Dr. Mehmet Oz on “The Dr. Oz Show,” the two men discussed in detail the results of Trump’s physical exam last week.

Trump disclosed his desire to lose a little weight (who doesn’t want to?), said his schedule prevents him from exercising as much as he would like, and confessed that he loves fast food. They also discussed his new plan for elder care and child care — and his daughter, Ivanka Trump, chimed in.

Dr. Harold N. Bornstein’s report indicated Trump keeps himself in excellent health. He avoids tobacco and alcohol products, and he has no history of heart disease, cancer, or liver or thyroid problems. He has been hospitalized only once, when he received an appendectomy when he was 11 years old. He takes a low-dose medication that helps lower his cholesterol, as well as a small dose of aspirin.

Dr. Oz took Trump through a full review of his health. Dr. Oz agreed Trump was “very healthy and that he would be happy if any of his patients had similar results.”

He also brought up Trump’s age, and any concerns the candidate might have in assuming the role of president. “Let’s talk about stamina. You’ve used that word a lot. You’ve made it an issue in this campaign. You argue that a president has to have a tremendous amount of stamina. If elected, at age 70, you will be the oldest person to ever enter the Oval Office. Why do you think you have the stamina for the job?”

“Yeah, just about the same age as Ronald Reagan, and Hillary is a year behind me,” said Trump. “I would say just based on my life … I feel as good today as I did when I was 30.”

Many of the best comments from the show, of course, had been leaked beforehand to the media. But what may have surprised viewers the most was Trump’s tone and demeanor.

TIME magazine writer Daniel D’Addario said, “What was surprising was the degree to which Trump tamped himself down.”

“In an era when there’s so many news outlets on TV and online, blaring so loudly and developing so quickly, daytime represents a meaningful way to reach suburban women in particular with an appealing and targeted message. By this standard of seeming presidential — of being able to go soft on a soft hour of TV, transmitting your message in a way that isn’t strident enough to shatter a Vaseline-smeared lens — Trump succeeded, wildly.”

Dr. Oz has extended the same invitation to Hillary Clinton to appear on his show.
