Oftentimes our culture seems far too desensitized to the sinful ways of everyone around us — including ourselves.

Yet Jefferson Bethke and his wife, Alyssa, who are Christian speakers and YouTube stars, are taking on this provocative topic and inspiring new reflection about it.

“The question I think about often is: If there’s a group of people and they are all sick, does anyone actually know that they’re sick? I think that especially relates to our world right now,” begins Jefferson Bethke in his new video. “We’re infected with this disease of fake love, of lies about love.”

Bethke, born in Tacoma, Washington, has talked often of his faith and his reasons for speaking out about issues close to his heart. “The day my life changed was when I realized that [God] saw all my filth, all my sin, all my shortcomings, and all my insecurities yet still looked me right in the eye and said, ‘I love you and I’m not going anywhere,'” Bethke says on his website.

He also says, “There’s nothing that sparks in me a joy for life and other people more than when I truly understand just all God has done for me in the cross and resurrection of Jesus.”
