Many people don’t believe in purgatory, but that’s often due to a lack of understanding.

Fr. Mike Schmitz, the chaplain for Newman Catholic Campus Ministry at the University of Minnesota Duluth, as well as the director of the Office of Youth Ministry for the Diocese of Duluth, discusses this issue and why purgatory is necessary.

“Some people reject the idea of purgatory because they misunderstand its purpose. In this video, Fr. Mike explains why purgatory is needed and straightens out some of those misunderstandings,” reads the video’s description.
