Breaking through the media spin and actually presenting the real issues that are important in this election can be difficult — especially given the nature of the 2016 presidential campaign.

But what exactly do the Democrats and Republicans stand for in this election cycle? The Family Research Council Action is set to distribute close to 4 million voter guides around the nation explaining the platforms of both parties on issues such as abortion, religious liberty, taxes, education, the military, and much more.

“The greatest distinguisher in this election cycle is where the candidates stand on their party’s platform.”

FRC Action, based in Washington, D.C., is also releasing a two-minute video to be shown in churches around the country concerning the platforms of both parties.

The 2016 election is perhaps one of the most important in a generation, with the Supreme Court in the balance. The next eight years could bring multiple new justices to the bench.

“These issues weigh on the minds and hearts of voters,” explained Tony Perkins, the FRC Action president, in a statement Friday. “It is crucial that voters get the facts before they vote.”

“With the next president selecting up to four Supreme Court justices, this is not a time to seek sanctuary on the sidelines. If we, as Christians, do not take our responsibility to be salt and light and exercise our right to cast an informed vote, we could see a further erosion of our fundamental freedoms,” continued Perkins.

“The greatest distinguisher in this election cycle is where the candidates stand on their party’s platform,” he said. “The GOP has the most conservative platform in recent history, while the Democrats have the most liberal. While party platforms are often viewed as political platitudes that have little bearing on how the parties will govern, the reality is the platforms really matter. One study found that Democratic politicians voted about three-quarters of the time with their platform, while GOP politicians voted nearly 90 percent with theirs.”

Breaking through the media bias and the 24-hour news cycle is vital as the campaigning comes to a close. On Nov. 8, America has a decision to make — and Americans must be informed and educated in order to cast their votes wisely.
