In modern culture, weddings and engagements can sometimes get out of hand — especially when social media is involved.

Comedian John Crist, who often references religious and Christian topics in his work, joked about modern millennial engagements in a hilarious satirical video that has almost 500,000 views on YouTube.

Crist lives in Los Angeles and is a member of City Church. He grew up in Georgia; his father was a pastor, and he was the third of eight homeschooled children in his family. He was named by ChurchLeaders.com as one of the “top five comics to watch.”

“The Millennial Marriage Proposal with John Crist and Megan Batoon. Because what’s the point of getting engaged if you don’t post it on Instagram?” reads the video’s description.
