When God breathed life into man (Genesis 2:7), human life became sacred.

In a similar way, I believe this kind of divine action characterizes how the Almighty breathed life into America.

The Republican establishment that opposes Donald Trump is too caught up in their intellectual prowess to care about America.

Despite the reality of God’s role in the birth of America, many deniers resist this premise. They point to our Founding Fathers’ words in the Declaration of Independence, that it was necessary to “dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind.”

Somehow, they translate these words into a declaration of mankind’s supremacy. Yet they overlook the reference to “nature’s God,” the same God that thoroughly infuses the United States’ founding documents.

For me, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and other documents from our country’s beginning are still as relevant as the day they were written. Their brilliance, and the separation of powers that provide us with a balanced system of government, demonstrate that only by the hand of God could all this have been possible.

Ignoring Our Values
Because of God’s hand, every life — born and unborn — is sacred, yet as a nation we still exhibit prejudice regarding those of a different race, ethnic background, language, or economic station in life. We also struggle with people from a different social class, whether that is a class from Harvard or impoverished students at an inner city high school. It seems that this political season confirms that notion.

Yet our flaws as a people can’t obscure the hand of God in our existence. Because of this truth, I can’t help feeling dismayed as I sit back and watch so-called conservatives destroy the very values imprinted by America’s founding Judeo-Christian principles. This is happening because of an inability to properly analyze the difference between moving a small step closer to those values, or continuing to push against them.

How else can one explain the “Never Trump” movement? I see its first shortcoming as pride. I find it amazing than many of these men and women, who consider themselves patriots, sit back and watch Hillary Clinton gain ground in presidential polls. Such behavior is one reason Donald Trump has gained so much popularity among the American people.

Caring for America
The Republican establishment opposing Trump is too caught up in their intellectual prowess to care about America. From one side of their mouth, they say Hillary Clinton would be the worst thing for America. Yet from the other side they continue to run down the only answer to ensure that she is not our next president.

Even worse is how they often comment on how much they care about America. Please don’t confuse these conservative media gurus with patriots — they are anything but. Don’t confuse the Establishment Republican Party politicians with patriots — they are very far apart.

Ironically, the Establishment leaders calling for Donald Trump to create unity can’t seem to unite with each other. These Establishment folks need to become united for America. It’s time to rally around the only hope we have to keep America out of the hands of Obama’s leftist legacy.

I understand freedom of speech and choice. But these men and women, who at one point had credibility within conservative circles, have willingly given it up because of their unpatriotic, misguided, intellectual analysis. The conservative media need to ignore them and cease giving them any more face time.

The End of a Nation
We do not need to wait until August or September to see where all the polls are going. If the Republican Party enters its convention later this month, divided for all the world to see, it will be the end of the Republican Party — and likely the end of America as we know it.

In all likelihood, the outcome will be four more years of the Obama left and the continuation of its liberal power grab and more social control — and a continuation of merging the judicial and legislative branches with the executive branch.

Indeed, Obama’s issuance of executive edicts could pale in comparison to what’s coming in the next four years. Yet — whether they admit or recognize it — this is exactly what the “Never Trump” crowd is working so hard to accomplish.

I believe they are planting the seeds of destruction of the very nation that God helped create.

I will end with the Senate’s prayer on July 4, 1861 — which is as appropriate today as it was then.

Almighty and everlasting God, be not angry with us for our sins, which we only confess and deplore; but pardon our offenses and extend to us Thy favor. We thank Thee for Thy goodness on this anniversary of the nation a day tenfold more precious by reason of our present troubles, and sacred to the heart for the ever memorable Declaration of our fathers, in which Thou didst begin more openly to give us a name among the nations of the earth.

We thank Thee for all Thy manifold and abundant mercies hitherto to make our nation exceedingly great and glorious; but now disasters have befallen us and darkness broods in the land. And now we ask Thy mercy as the Senate is convening at a most momentous crisis of our history. Give to Thy servants all needed help. Add to their deliberations wisdom and unanimity, and profit and speed to their conclusion. Bless Thy servant, the President of the United States, our veteran Commander-in-Chief, and all that have functions in the civil and military power.

May the angel of Thy presence walk in the Cabinet and in the Congress and in the camp, to go before, to purify, and to direct the now greatly and universally-awakened love of country. And we beseech Thee to guide us, to overrule and order all things, and so to cause that nothing shall fail, that the disorders of the land may be speedily healed, that peace and concord may prevail, that truth and righteousness may be established, and that Thy Church and Kingdom may flourish in a larger peace and prosperity, for Thy Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ’s sake. Amen.
